I can’t remember a time when a beauty contestant refused her placement right after being announced as one of the winners in a live national finals, until now.

During the coronation of Miss Hungary 2013, three winners should have been given the tiara and sash – one each for Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Intercontinental. The girl chosen as 3rd placer – Korinna Kocsis (who took part in ME2009) – would have been crowned as Miss Hungary Imtercontinental. On the spot, she refused to accept the title as she had only expected to place in the Top 2. As a result, Brigitta Timar (who was next in line) was given the honor instead.
Amusing, right? Something like this will never happen in the Philippines. And if it does, the automatic reaction is not to spoil the pageant proceedings and hold a separate press conference in exchange for making a scene.
Only in Hungary, I must say.
