Bb. Pilipinas World 2003 Maria Rafaela Verdadero Yunon-Belasco is one of my favorite Philippine reps to Miss World ever. Now if styling and elegance are to be used as benchmarks, then this beautiful woman ranks high up there in a collective tally of all previous Bb. Pilipinas titleholders, alongside the likes of Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran plus Bb. Pilipinas Universe winners Gionna Cabrera (2005) and Charlene Gonzalez Bonnin (1994) and Miss Maja Pilipinas 1992 Marina Benipayo.

Just late last month, I got to see Mafae once more during the victory party of Aces&Queens and she remains lovely as ever. A couple of weeks after, I decided that I want to feature her again for a second time (the first one was early last year).

The updates below came straight from Mafae herself.

“Nowadays, a lot is on my plate and I am more than happy to share them with you. First off, my family. As you know, I am married to an amazing man. I could not be more than happy to share my life with Nic Belasco, a PBA player for 18 years who retired just this past August 2014. We have four beautiful kids. 3 boys and a princess. Nico 15, Mike 12, Moses, 10 and Nicole 6.

We are currently home-schooling all our children with TMA Homeschooling provider. It’s such bliss to be able to be the main influence for them. I am a big supporter for homeschooling.

Business-wise, Nic and I currently own our skills academy – Belasco Unlimited Skills Academy. Nic coaches Basketball and I coach Tennis. Nic also owns his own Adult semi pro team under our skills academy name in the FBA League. Commissioner is Vince Hizon

My other business is Mirror Management and Consulting Inc. This business caters to Managing Talents, doing PR for Companies/Individuals and Organizing Events. My partner in this company is Catriona Gray. We have the same vision on basically helping people achieve their dreams and goals with passing on our success and experience.”

Three things that really got my attention were: 1) that Nic and Mafae are strong advocates of home schooling, 2) that Mafae is a tennis coach (I never knew that) and 3) that she is in a business partnership with Catriona Gray.

Watch out for Part 2 of this feature on her. I still have a number of juicy questions to ask her and one post may not be enough to cover all bases. ;-)
