Maggie Wilson-Consunji and the controversial “Yaya’s Meal” in Balesin

By now, most of you are already aware of the trending Facebook updates Bb. Pilipinas World 2007 Maggie Wilson-Consunji posted on her timeline about the alleged “yaya’s meal” that the nannies of its rich members should order in the restaurant inside Balesin. The issue has already been settled somehow, but the stink has already been sniffed by many. If you ask me, I think that the said meal is for real. Discretion from Management could have prevented the whole thing from getting blown out of proportions, but somehow it wasn’t the case. Below are quotes from her sentiments.

Here was the incident:
My mom, connor and his nanny, Nanay Belen went to have breakfast this morning. Our nanny ordered her meal and my mom wanted the same thing. The waiter said “Oh, hindi pwede ma’am, kase that’s a “yaya’s meal”.
So when I checked with management they said that they won’t stop the yaya’s from ordering what they want. Which is true because we been here for 3 days and not once was our nanny told she couldn’t order what she wanted. But they do however have such a thing as a “yaya’s meal”, the waiter that served them was clearly not informed correctly. But still, the fact that there are people who don’t want their yaya’s to eat whatever they want to is beyond me. Hence the resort having to offer a “yaya’s meal”. I still find that offensive.

It’s not Balesin’s fault on why they offer such a meal but I would like to know which of the members insisted on it! It was however their fault on how they trained their staff. What was said was rude and offensive, especially so that the comment was made in front of my mom, our nanny, Nanay Belen and our son. I also think they need to review their policies on the No Credit Card No Food rule. When they won’t even accept cash. What if my mom or nanny or let’s say even a guest who don’t own credit cards want to eat? They will not be served or allowed to order because of that very policy. I think that’s little skewed don’t you think? Hope Balesin finds away to at least correct that!

I can totally understand where Maggie is coming from. In our household, all members eat the same food. Aside from saving LPG gas or electricity in having to prepare separate meals for the kasambahays, we always leave enough to share among themselves – be it rib-eye or wagyu steak we decided to feast on. And I can’t remember any instance when they had to be content with cheaper food fares. As long as they are staying with us, they can always eat whatever we have on the dining table.
