If the evolution of the Filipino Terno fascinates you, then you should get a copy of this book

There is a new coffee table book available in your favorite Bench stores, and it’s titled “Fashionable Filipinas” by Gino Gonzales and Mark Lewis Higgins of Slim’s Fashion and Arts School. It’s all about the evolution of the Philippines traditional dress from the early years dating back to 1860 and covering a century that stretches until 1960.

According to this article from L’Officiel Manila:

According to Higgins and Gonzales, “although other forms of native dress exist in the Philippines, most would be indigenous or tribal in origin. The terno, however, is the most highly evolved among native Philippine clothing. Taking inspiration first from Spanish fashion, and later from the couture houses of Paris, theterno became one of the most progressive national dresses in Southeast Asia.”
