If your day was anything like the January 25 of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, then you’d definitely fall flat on your bed fast asleep even before the setting of dusk. She had a most punishing schedule yesterday that started with a courtesy call with Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada who gifted her with a precious pearl necklace from Tesoro’s plus the key to the city. Thereafter, she had to be whisked to the Philippine Senate where our Senators – led by Franklin Drilon and Sonny Angara – presented her with a Citation of Excellence together with the Miss Universe Organization team headed by Paula Shugart.
From the Senate, she was quickly brought to the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel where she was to be dolled up even more for the momentous Grand Parade that stretched all the way from Pasay City to the streets of Manila to the rapturous crowds waiting in Makati City to the end point at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
And all throughout the back-breaking and leg-straining ride atop the float (courtesy of the City of Manila), Miss Universe was at her most gracious, endlessly waving to the happy faces showering her with all the love and warmth befitting a Queen of her pageant stature. She never complained. Her smile never disappeared. And her body language dictated to take everything in with all the gratitude that she can send back to everyone.
Truly, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is one tireless individual. And she doesn’t mind the weariness of her mind and body at the end of the day. The most important thing is that she was able to give back to the Filipino people – be it a smile, a wave, a wink, a selfie, or a bigger smile. She was up to it. And she will gladly do it all over again if she had to. :-D
