The US has Miss Universe. UK has Miss World. The Philippines has Miss Earth. And now, Australia has proudly started what will be known as its first homegrown international beauty competition – Pageant of the World.
Pageant of the World is actually an offshoot of the Miss Australasian Beauty Pageant which focused on ladies in Australia with foreign descents and different cultural backgrounds. This time, the organizers – headed by CEO Cindy Dionisio – have decided to expand their reach and include representatives of different countries. Thus, Pageant of the World was incepted and successfully launched last February 18 at the Green Room at the Quay, at the Rocks overlooking the popular Sydney Harbour in the distance.

Here is part of the Press Release:
Pageant Of The World was conceptualized and initiated in Australia. It aims to revolutionise the traditional beauty pageant. “We are about developing positive role models who can offer more than just their beauty. Gifted with their skills and talents, our candidates are women who can make a difference and contribute to the community at large. They would most like do ongoing volunteer and charity work in areas that need attention, like aged care, children and the disabled in our society” says Cindy Dionisio.
We envision the winner to be crowned to be a role model for the world, and an ambassador for cultural celebration, harmony, equality and social justice. Her reign would involve a range of activities integrating charity work and raising awareness for a variety of causes to include education for children in impoverished areas.
Cindy explains that “the pageant is no easy ride for the candidates. We expect them to do the groundwork and they will have to undergo workshops, training as well as get involved in community work whilst competing in the pageant . However, their journey with us would be most rewarding and truly fulfilling. It would be a life changing experience as they transform themselves into women of substance – confident, knowledgeable, connected to the world they live in, and truly deserving of the title “Woman of the World.”
The inaugural finals of Pageant of the World – where the big winner will be titled “Woman of the World 2016” – will be held on July 8 at the Sydney Town Hall. Knowing both Cindy Dionisio and Sid Vijan personally, I believe that this pageant is in good hands. I am definitely looking forward for more updates and developments about it.
Here’s to Pageant of the World and the international search for the very first Woman of the World!
