Miguel Alexis Maliwat, or “Migs” for short, is the Civil Engineering major from San Fernando, Pampanga who recently figured out as one of the transformation winners during the Century Tuna Superbods Nat10n finals at the Palace Pool Club in BGC. He used to be this overweight teenager with questionable self-esteem up until he decided to take the bold step in changing the course of his life. Now at 20 and with a muscular body that can battle it out with some of the best out there, he is preparing himself with much excitement for Gentlemen of the Philippines where he will vie to become one of the five (5) winners who will represent the country in international male competitions abroad.
Here are now are his views on the Q&A I required of him to submit.
1) What is your personal definition of a Gentleman?
“For me, the meaning of a Gentleman is being a role model to others by doing great things, helping others, having high standards of behavior, knowing what is right and wrong plus having an optismistic mindset in everything that I do – that’s the meaning of a Gentleman for me.”
2) What Gentleman qualities do you possess that will convince people that you are one?
“Being a Gentleman comes natural for me – by being polite, being kind to everyone, by having strong values in facing everyone (person, animal, nature. etc) and giving high respect to everyone no matter what happens. I got all of this because of my parents and how they raised me with dignity and showed me that if you try to understand, respect and help others – no matter how big or small the effort it is – it will be worth it because by doing those things will help them do the good deeds themselves.”
3) Who is your Gentleman role model?
“My parents, especially my Dad. They are my role models because they are the ones who raised me well and showed me what the values I need for the rest of my life. They are the reason behind what I have right now. They are the teachers who taught how to face reality, the world with strong values and I think that’s the reason why I am truly a Gentleman now.”
4) If you win the national competition and represent the country internationally, what kind of image for a Filipino Gentleman do you plan to show?
“If I will get the opportunity to represent our country – which is one of my biggest dreams – I will simply be myself. I mean all the values of being a good citizen of the Philippines comes naturally in my being. By having a confident personality, I’m sure all of our strong values as Filipinos will come out.”
5) What message of support can you give to your growing number of fans and followers out there?
“My message to all of my supporters: always dream Big and work hard. After that, the rest will follow. Always wear your armor of confidence in everything that you do.”
