If all English Teachers look like 23 year-old Maybelle Pameroyan of Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan, no student would skip classes. That is already power ingrained in her being a beautiful educator inside the classroom. And from that platform, she can always segue to the meaningful sharing of knowledge about the environment to her students, as I’m sure she has already started doing prior to joining the forty-five (45) other candidates for Miss Philippines Earth 2016.

“As a public school teacher, my advocacy is #EducationEqualsRightfulActionsForMotherEarth wherein teaching the importance of proper waste management, reforestation, energy conservation will be given more emphasis on. This will not concern only one aspect of the environment but it will cover its entirety (land, water, air and ecotourism as well). I believe that CHANGE STARTS FROM WITHIN. We may have the newest products of modern technology but if we are not educated well enough what we’ve been doing wrong for the past decades and on what we could do to alter it all, our Mother Earth will still continue to die. Seminars and workshops will be effective ways to inform others especially the youth of today. Social media may also be used to spread important information on the current state of our environment. Reaching out to different establishments specially schools would be of great help to make a change. Truly, I believe the lines of the late Napoleon Hill, whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve. We can achieve everything for Mother Earth with enough knowledge, and initiative leading to action.”

And what is Maybelle’s best argument to win the crown of MPE2016?

I want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2016 because I believe that its advocacy of promoting environmental awareness will be of great help to the present generation and future generations. I certainly want to be a part of this advocacy. The Earth is deteriorating as time passes by and I really think being Miss Philippines Earth 2016 will be a great avenue for me to be able to reach out and educate more people on global warming and our role putting a stop to it.

Maybelle Pameroyan is grateful for being given the chance to take part in a national beauty contest. For her voice to be heard is already an achievement. And if she can push it further and place well in the finals, then the challenge would be to widen the reach of her advocacy and become a certified Teacher for Mother Earth.:-)
