2.5 million IG followers and still counting
If you haven’t yet checked the personal Instagram account of Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach – @piawurtzbach – the latest figures state that she has already accumulated a running total of 2.5 million followers. Add to that her 1.5 million under @missuniverse and that is a huge wealth of individuals from all parts of the globe trailing every single one of her posts and quick videos. If you don’t call that powerful for a beauty queen, then I don’t know what is.
Now what does having so many quantified fans and supporters mean? Well, for starters, she already has a voice (plus images) that points to a dedicated audience. She can effectively endorse a product by just taking a selfie holding the same. She can eat in a particular restaurant and hordes of customers are likely to follow suit the day or week after. She can have a photo with the closest of friends, then suddenly, the latter starts getting a legion of followers fast.
That is the power of social media. And that is also the power of Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach as an individual. She is responsible. And that is the most important part of having such big hold on people. She thinks before she clicks.😉
