Mutya 23 is Kristen Karla dela Cruz
There is a representative from Zamboanga in the ongoing Mutya ng Pilipinas, and she is Kristen Karla dela Cruz. This business-minded lass from one of the cities in the deep south is the reigning Mutya ng Zamboanga which earned for her the seeding to become an Official Candidate in the national level. Let us hear more from her, shall we?
“I am Kristen Karla N. Dela Cruz, 19 years old. At this early age, I am already a young professional and the family breadwinner. I work as a Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Sales Representative of Alaska Milk Corporation. I was born in Dubai, UAE, as my parents were both OFWs. I am a pure Filipina, a Zamboangueña.
I am the typical “manang” Church girl. Back home, all I do is go to work or to church, I devote my life there. I believe in the verse “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all shall be added unto you”-Matthew 6:33. Though still I believe in woman empowerment through pageants. I was enlightened that even in the bible there is a story written particularly to pageantry, the story of Esther.
I joined Mutya ng Pilipinas not only to compete, but rather relatively to the advocacy of this pageant. I would like to uplift the name and tourism of Asia’s Latin City-Zamboanga that people may see the resiliency of my fellow Zamboangueños, the chavacanos, bisaya and the muslim tribes as one, the richness and diverse cultures we offer, and erase the remainings of siege, removing the fear of just hearing the name of our city and just think of it as a trial surpassed, and give justice to Zamboanga in the name of pageantry as well.
Along with my personality and religious beliefs, I embrace the differences in our city, admire what we could offer and with my advocacy, I believe that I can deliver the message sang in our anthem
‘Zamboanga Hermosa, Preciosa, Perlita, Orgullo de Mindanao” meaning the beautiful precious pearl the Pride of Mindanao. I am that. I am the pearl, the Mutya for the City, and I can also be that for the country.”
Will Karla do Mindanao proud in Mutya?
So will Karla go far in Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 so she can bring forth a deep-seated advocacy for her beloves Zamboanga? We will see.
