The Most Beautiful Woman in Pasay City last 2011 is now gunning for glory in Bb. Pilipinas 2014.

Pasay City-based Mary Ainjely “Jhel” Manalo is the beautiful 21 year-old from Aces & Queens who is being tagged as a possible spoiler in Bb. Pilipinas 2014. A Registered Nurse by profession, she was a graduate of Centro Escolar University.

The first time I saw this 5’7″ eye candy in person, I just asked myself, is she any good when expressing her thoughts? True, she spoke briefly during the A&Q Presentation event. But I needed to find out more.

Here now is my Question-and-Answer with her.

Up close and personal, Jhel is the picture of radiance.

1.What are the advantages and disadvantages of an A&Q aspirant like you joining a tough competition like Binibining Pilipinas?

“I could only think of one disadvantage which could also be an advantage depending on how you take it. It’s the pressure you feel since you are under a camp that produces title holders for years now. So the goal gets higher and higher. Like what I said, this could also be an advantage because that thought drives me to train harder and focus more. Another advantage is that A&Q prepares us wholistically. We really go out in the battle with full armor. And since they’ve been in this field for years, alam na alam na nila ang ginagawa nila at the same time, still open for constructive criticisms para lalong mag- improve. They are very supportive and passionate of what they do.”

2. How are you preparing yourself for all pre pageant activities where the top favorites and hyped contenders are always given the spotlight? How do you plan to stand out?

“Well, I couldn’t really please everyone. So the technique is, wag ka na lang tumingin sa iba, don’t look for something you don’t have. This pageant is like a mind game. Since everyone is beautiful, you really have to set your mind that you are already a winner, that you could stand out despite the tight competition until it just reflects on everything you do. Another is being open for constructive criticisms. This is very effective for me. It might hurt at times, but worth it in the end. Most importantly is I fully trust everything to God. I prayed for this before deciding to join. I know that there’s a purpose for everything, God will not put me in a situation that I wont be able to overcome. Kahit gano pa kahirap ang lahat, financially, emotionally, physically, I still know that I’ve got everything I need, since I have God.”

3. Do you believe in goodluck (or the lack of it) when joining a pageant?

“I don’t actually believe in luck because that is for the hopeless, haha. What I believe is that, I have a God who gives the desires of my heart and leads me to the right direction, and eventually on being victorious in everything I do. As long as you have the right intentions and you put your heart into it, then you could win not only in pageants but in every battle in life :)”

There you go. A glimpse on the mind of Binibini 21 Mary Ainjely Manalo. ;-)
