The Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Official Candidates inside one of ABS-CBN’s studios
The Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Primer: The Road to the Crown was definitely an eye-opener into the minds, ideas and manners of speech of all forty (40) Official Candidates.
Only five (5) Binibinis spoke in straight English: Joy Diaz, Laura Lehmann, Parul Shah, Kris Tiffany Janson and Gabe Tilokani.
Nine (9) Binibinis opted to deliver their monologues in straight Tagalog: Joy Marie Gangan, Vessica Sambo, Jeslyn Santos, Hannah Sheena Manuel, Sarah Jireh Asido, Joana Angelica Romero, Ednornance Agustin, Zahara Soriano and Diana Arevalo.
The remaining twenty six (26) Binibinis all spoke in Tag-lish. Some with more Tagalog than English and vice-versa.
As far as I’m concerned, nobody gave bad monologues. Yes, you can pick on the way they pronounce words, regional dictions and the like, but everyone gave their best in their minute or two on the spotlight.
Of course, there were those who stood out. And they are a big lot, twenty in fact. In random order now:
