While I’m not an out-and-out superstitious kind of individual, it was very evident last Sunday night that majority of the Binibinis wore red (or different shades of the color) during the Evening Gown competition. And one of them stood out garbed in a black creation. Diana Arevalo was the lady and we all know what happened to her third and final Bb. Pilipinas bid.
I do not profess constant adoration for her, but deep in my heart, she deserves to at least approximate her performance during the first two attempts. I was actually even hoping that she would bag the Bb. Pilipinas Tourism because it felt like the title is being reserved for a repeater. True, the only difference is that Parul Shah grabbed that one.
So does the color black have any significant bearing to the snob? Or was she asked to wear one as a sort of color code for the judges to give additional consideration in scoring? Well, it probably was, but earning points that could have fallen short in the final tally on the way to the Top 15.
Regardless, Diana must be plotting new game plans for her life now. She could go back to Macau for work. But if you ask me, I would rather see her find a brighter career path in our shores. Home is still where the heart is, after all.
