Recently-concluded performances during the Talent Competition of Miss World Philippines 2013 at the Solaire Resort and Casino ran the whole gamut of song, dance, song-and-dance routines, sketching and the like. Candidate #25, though, performed a folk number that raised the eyebrows of people in the audience. She “carried” on her shoulders (and reinforced by light plastic pipes) two mannequin-like props that made it look like her turn was more of a group number. It was novel alright. Maybe not a sure Miss Talent winner, but definitely worth the shortlist.
That girl is 5’6″ Melanie Barret from Pampanga – another mixed-race contender for this year’s last major national beauty competition. While many of us do not consider her a front-runner at this point, the girl is having the time of her life bonding with the 25 other ladies vying for the crown. But then again, who knows what will actually happen during finals night on the 18th. She just might make the cut to the semifinals if the judges see in her some qualities we don’t.
At any rate, good luck to you, girl!
