When Jamie Herrell finally wears the Philippine sash in Miss Earth 2014, she will possess one factor that none of her predecessors had in their favor going into the international competition – sizzling youth in actual years and aura. As a 19 year-old, she will be one of the youngest in this year’s roster of earth warriors. And she can use this advantage to forge ahead in the various pre-pageant activities with her bubbly energy and teenage charm.
The question is, will that be enough to secure our country’s 2nd Miss Earth crown? Nope. There has to be an additional combination of tempered maturity and sincere friendliness to help her stand out more consistently. She needs to keep in mind that someone like Stephanie de Zorzi of Venezuela has already been getting valuable tips and information from reigning titleholder Alyz Henrich on how to behave during the entire run.
And if the country hosts once more, she will be expected to display a more naturally friendly self so as to be tagged a most hospitable host delegate. Of course, if the negotiations with a foreign country (say, for example, Korea) to do the hosting falls through, then she may also need to adjust her gameplan a bit.
Regardless, Jamie has the edge at the moment. And she needs to use the advantage to further her training for the big league come October/November. :-)
