By now, many Bb. Pilipinas fans and followers agree that Binibini 24 Niza Sabrina Sophia Limjap of Bacolod is a talented vocalist after giving a record-worthy rendition of “On My Own” during the pageant’s talent competition. But did you also know that she is a self-confessed fashionista who has worked for Rustan’s – the country’s most high-end retail chain prior to joining?
I worked as a Merchandise Assistant where I basically handled imported brands (American and European premium brands) under Ladies Fashion ready-to-wear. Aside from singing, Fashion is my second passion. It’s nice to be working in retail although it can be stressful at times but its fun and fulfilling.
But on with this Easter Sunday Special where I gave Niza three (3) questions to answer. Hear her responses now.
What does Easter Sunday mean to you as an individual?
For me, Easter Sunday is the celebration of Christ’s resurrection from the dead. This marks the greatest holy day of the Christian year. As a Catholic i truly believe that it is just appropriate to prepare for this day which is why we engage ourself in various self discipline activities such as fasting, abstinence, prayer, and contemplation during the Lenten season. It is a remembrance of Christ’s suffering to save us from our sins. His death and resurrection is an epitome of our faith as Christians and can be considered as our victory from sin. I can say that His work of redemption is finished and we have been saved. We should thank God and give Him praise not only during easter but all the days of our life. I grew up in a Catholic family and my parents has always taught me the importance of praying together and putting God in the center of my life. So I guess the meaning of Easter for me are the following: devoting our time to prayer, to temporarily detach ourself from what’s keeping our attention from God and discern on how we can improve our relationship with God and how we can glorify Him in our day to day life.
Being an excellent singer and host at the same time, what are the best advantages that this kind of work give you as a Binibini in all your public appearances/relations?
Well I guess being exposed to people through performing and hosting helped me overcome my shyness and it developed my self-confidence as a person. I started singing in broadway and learned the importance of discipline and respect to my co-performers, director, staff etc. at such a young age. Hosting has also helped me hone my ability to communicate to people through the camera and it gave me a chance to meet a lot of people which I really love. I can say that I am a very warm/loving kind of person. I like to interact, socialize and meet new people. I guess this is innate. I am basically just applying all these traits to my advantage by being a Binibini.
3) If there are three good things you could separately wish for three other Binibinis close to you, what would these wishes be and why?
For Ria Rabajante
I wish that God will bless you with all that your heart desires. I am very thankful to share this journey with my best friend and i don’t think i will enjoy it as much without you. I admire your faith and dedication to God keep it up. You surely have a bright future ahead of you and i am going to support you all the way.For Anjellica Lopez
I wish that your dream of being able to travel and study abroad will come true. I admire your willingness to learn new things and how you value education. I hope you keep your jolly and optimistic personality because this will truly make a mark to the people you meet. For Dindi Pajares
My wish for Dindi is for her to never lose her burning spirit within her and keep that firing energy. I hope that God may also grant her prayers.
It is interesting to note that Niza has remained an independent candidate of Bb. Pilipinas instead of aligning herself with one of the beauty camps in the competition. If this decision will hold her in good stead till April 17, then I salute her efforts.
