Miss Philippines Earth 2016 Imelda Schweighart was surrounded by several giant chess pieces during her last pictorial. And these images (by Jerkerly So Tang of Sino-Fil Fab) inspired me to create a blog post about her pageant life as related to the strategy-filled board game.
We all know that Imelda is no longer a pageant rookie, having participated in Bb. Pilipinas 2013 where she made the Top 15. After that, she kept a low-key presence on the scene before almost re-surfacing as Official Candidate of Miss World Philippines 2015 at which time she did not feel 100% ready to play the game in the beauty nationals for a second time just yet. She also joined Mutya ng Palawan 2015 as the entry of Cuyo and placed 1st Runner-Up.
But when Imelda finally said yes to joining Miss Philippines Earth 2016 as Miss Puerto Princesa City, she finally got her groove back. And as the crowned successor of Angelia Ong, she is now a Queen no less. And with the herculean challenge of going for a third consecutive Miss Earth crown for the country, she knows that the assignment would not fall on her lap if she is not ready to step it up big time.
Her next moves will now be played wisely just like the game of chess.
