Miss Philippines Fire 2016 Shannon Bridgman
When Shannon Bridgman competed during Mutya ng Pilipinas 2015, she went on to place in the Top 10. Not bad for a first-timer in Philippine pageants. She went back to Melbourne, Australia to resume her normal life with mom Florida. But soon enough, she realized that she just can’t settle back that easily.
And so, a plan was made during the latter part of last year to return to the Philippines and make that second attempt in the nationals. She found herself wearing the sash of Rosales, Pangasinan for Miss Philippines Earth 2016 and focused on doing better than the last.
Fate was more cooperative this time around. While she felt that her diligent efforts to stand out did not come appreciated at the onset, she went on with her game plan.
On pageant night, Shannon was not in the highest of spirits. Just hours earlier, her bag – along with those of three other candidates – were stolen inside UP Theater. It really dampened her momentum, so to speak. But with the moral support of her mom and designer/siblings Jontie and Nickky Martinez, she restored her confidence and was assured that the loss could mean a potential award before the end of the night.
Shannon is now Miss Philippines Fire 2016. And what a relief that she found more reasons to stay longer in the country. The responsibilities that come with the honor may not come as heavy as that of the Earth’s, but she will definitely use the title to forge ahead in her environmental advocacies.
