The younger Shah is currently participating in Limgas na Pangasinan 2015 where she is the entry of San Nicolas. While this province-wide competition is not looking at sending its winner to any of the national beauty contests, the experience should give Vijita a taste of how it is to face up to crowds in public and be appreciated for her natural beauty and charm. Of course, the comparison to Parul can’t be helped. But if she eventually decides to turn serious with her efforts and go for the more demanding affairs in Metro Manila, then there’s no choice but to muster enough guts and confidence to live up to her older sister’s pageant fame.
Your initial impressions about Vijita, dear readers? :-)Rob Mcnamara during his victory as Mister Philippines Australia and with his loving family (upper right photo)
Nowadays, the 20 year-old from Glastone Park spends a lot more time bulking up for Misters 2015/The Mister Filipinas Search and brushing up on his knowledge of Philippine culture. As the representative of the Filipino Community from Down Under, he has the responsibility of bringing pride and honor to his supporters in his native Melbourne. And if he is lucky enough to go several notches higher and become one of the winners in the national finals here, the mission becomes even more great, what with the hashtag #ForThePhilippines getting attached to his name by then.
But that would be getting far ahead of the story. For now, let us await Rob’s arrival in Manila for the competition by the 3rd Quarter of 2015, and how he will suit up for the pressures of becoming an Official Candidate for Misters 2015. ;-)

Winners all (left to right) Daragang Magayon Almasor Carmela Doma, 1st Runner-Up Francia Layderos, Daragang Magayon 2015 Ma. Carmella Michelle Dolmer, 2nd Runner-Up Christine Arnedo and Daragang Magayon Turismo Iana Villania
Top favorite Ma. Carmella Michelle Dolmer was named Daragang Magayon 2015. The 19 year-old beauty of Filipino-Canadian lineage led the competition from start to finish after getting a lion’s share of the special awards, aside from charming the star-studded panel of judges. She stands 5’8″.
With more training, I’m pretty sure we’ll see more of this drop dead gorgeous girl come 2016 in the nationals. She will be safely 20 by then and fully polished.
1st Runner-Up is Francia Layderos with 2nd Runner-Up honors going to Christine Arnedo. Named Daragang Magayon Turismo is Iana Villania, while Carmela Doma took home Daragang Magayon Almasor.
Hosted by Isabelle Daza, the board of judges included celebrities like Jaclyn Jose, Eula Valdez, Angel Aquino, Joyce Ann Burton-Titular and Lem Pelayo, together with model Rocky Salumbides, designers Jojie Lloren & Frederick Peralta plus special guest Geoff Eigenmann.
Congratulations are in order for Ma. Carmella Michelle Dolmer and her handler Jud Ballesteros who happens to be the regional mentor of Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Official Candidate Marvi Ann de Lima. I’m truly happy with this victory! :-D

Miss Cagayan de Oro City Beatrice Alvarez (right) and Miss Guinobatan, Albay Jian Cayla Salazar placed 1 and 2 during the Greenbag Fashion Show Challenge of MPE2015 and SM Markets
In the recent Greenbag Fashion Show Challenge of Miss Philippines Earth 2015 and SM Markets, the objective was simple: create an outfit using the eco-friendly bags of the supermarket chain. And all the candidates, together with their handlers and sewers, coordinated in coming up with a variety of get-ups that went from simple and flirty to downright traditional (or Filipinina if you will).
As expected, the ones who ruled the event were those who wore tastefully-made originals that made use of the barest accessories and went all-out to making the greenbags the star of the creation. Miss Cagayan de Oro City Beatrice Alvarez wore a black two-piece dress that utilized all the available eco-greens for the butterfly cut-outs that were sewn into the same. The result is a winner. It topped all the presented designs.
2nd Placer Jian Cayla Salazar of Guinobatan, Albay went for a black one-shoulder cocktail number that was cleanly-executed and fashionably worn by her.

A sneak peek into the latest photoshoot of our Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Queens with fashion photographer Doc Marlon
Watch out for the final cuts of the said pictorial very soon!
In the meantime, do check out Doc Marlon’s inspiring body of work by clicking on his website link HERE. ;-)
Joseph is returning home to fulfill some previously-set commitments in the coming weeks ahead. I’m sure he will set foot in the Land of Smiles again by late May or early June. By then, the projects he is hoping to materialize will have already been in motion.
Let’s wish him the best, dear readers! ;-)

But Athena managed to survive a tempestuous year. Let us now look back at some of the videos that will remind us again of her reign, with the last one showing her latest career as a Field Reporter of GMA News TV.

During the recently-concluded Reyna ng Aliwan 2015 at the CCP Complex Grounds, this 5’9″ mixed-race (Fil-American) beauty made heads turn. She literally stood out in the line-up of candidates for the crown because of her skin color. But more than that, she was also noticed for having smooth moves onstage that can be improved for future endeavors in either modeling or beauty competitions.
Where can you see her shining more, dear readers? The catwalk or the pageant ramp?
;-)
Bb. Pilipinas International 2015 Janicel Lubina’s close-up look during the photoshoot with Doc Marlon
And I’m really digging how our Queen J.Lu can shift her looks from one shot to another. There is a natural way by which she projects for the camera and feeds an assortment of aura and appeal. Just like in the image above, she resembles a more gorgeous version of actress Lovi Poe. Her smile refreshes. And those eyes, they pierce like arrows of love from Cupid.
Check out her other homecoming shots courtesy of Bb. Pilipinas (Official) by clicking this LINK. ;-)
Like a colorful butterfly in full bloom, Janicel is ready to spread her wings for the whole world to see
Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Official Candidate Neesha Murjani is now a full-pledged graduate – diploma, toga, march and all!
“I was a summer grad last year and because of that I wasn’t able to join the April 2014 graduates in marching. I felt incomplete receiving my diploma knowing that I didn’t wear a toga (YES, that means a lot to me.) Today, I took the chance to join the 2015 graduates and I finally feel complete! It feels so good to walk that aisle, wearing a toga and see my parents smiling. College was definitely a roller coaster ride. You know that kind of ride where you don’t want to ride again.”
Congratulations, Neesha! While your Bb. Pilipinas bid was not met with the results you originally aimed for, there are still greater career opportunities heading your way. It may not be in the form of a beauty title, but the rewards will be just as meaningful, I’m sure. ;-)
The video below was made by StarStyle for Miss World 2013 Megan Young before she finally decided to sign an exclusive contract with her original TV network GMA-7. As we all know by now, our former blue crown wearer will be hosting the station’s reality artista search (“Starstruck“) before finally filling in the shoes of the lead in a planned remake of “Marimar” for the nth time.
For now, enjoy her behind-the-scenes in a video where she went offstage and into the woods. ;-)

Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 Christi Lynn McGarry in her side shots during the Doc Marlon photoshoot
Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 Christi Lynn McGarry, very tall as she is, still stood out among the five ladies so she must have worn ordinary heels during the shoot to put some balance in the head lines. And I love her look during the same – exuding a temptress vibe that was beautifully captured by the lensman, even in her selfie. :-)
Another judging stint for your blogger!
Today, I will be flying to Bacolod City to attend and judge the Pasalamat Festival Queen 2015 contest in La Carlota City which will have its finals tonight.
Pasalamat Festival in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, Philippines is based on the tradition of giving thanks to gods of elements after a bountiful harvest by the ancient of Buglas. The city takes on a festive atmosphere during the weeklong celebration, which culminates with a Mardi Gras like parade of floats and caricatures. Dancers flirtatiously move to the rhythm created by the drumbeaters using carabao leather drums and percussion instruments made out of indigenous materials. – Ed Joven/bacolodtravelguide.com
When my fellow blogger Joyce Ann Burton-Titular sat in the panel of Daragang Magayon 2015, she and the other judges were practically unanimous in picking Carmella Michelle Dolmer as the winner. She even went as far as saying that the young lass would be a perfect fit for Miss World Philippines 2015 as a possible successor for the reigning Valerie Weigmann. Now I’m not one to go against the thought because she has loads of potential, aside from having a good talent in dancing.
And since the handlers of Carmella are associated with Aces & Queens (the same team who prepped up Marvi Ann de Lima for Bb. Pilipinas 2015 ), the likelihood of being taken by the same camp is a given.
Now the question is, will she suit up better for MWP2015? Or are the prospects of taking part in Bb. Pilipinas 2016 looking more realistic?
Your thoughts, dear readers? :-)
Significantly boosted by the performance of three of the four 2014 titleholders – Neil Perez clinching the Mister International title in Korea, Adam Davies getting 3rd Runner-Up honors during Mr. Model International in the Dominican Republic and Joseph Doruelo making it to the Top 13 in Thailand’s Mr. Global – there is much to be thankful for and to give back. Pending the results of Mister Tourism International in Panama for Judah Cohen, let’s hope that he figures out well in the World Finals later this month.
Get ready for Misters/The Mister Filipinas Search 2015.It’s coming soon! :-D
Monika Sta. Maria, Franchesca Lagua and Amanda Chan – all Filipinas – together with Aimee Rose Cheng-Bradshaw from Singapore are spending the long Labor Day weekend in Boracay where they continued their being best buddies long after filming of the 3rd season of the modeling search was over. Of course, we’re still approaching the halfway mark on cable TV and only one of them has been eliminated so far (Franchesca). Be that as it may, the four ladies have formed a strong bond among themselves and are now like true sisters.
By the time all ladies return to their normal lives by Tuesday, the good times may no longer be in full swing. The ties they have linked in between will remain tight, however.
And my lips are super-tightly sealed as to who the eventual winner of Season 3 really is. ;-)
Halimatu Yushawu (middle) was named Pasalamat Festival Queen 2015 at La Carlota last night. Flanking her are (from left): Mae Lourine Mercado (2nd Runner Up) and Lyzabeth Dilag (1st Runner-Up)
2nd Runner-Up Mae Lourine Mercado was actually the heavy favorite to win. But somewhere along the final question, she must have succumbed to nerves and dished out an answer that trailed the other two in terms of clarity and delivery.
In the end, the five judges – Miss Philippines Earth 2007 Jeanne Harn, actor Philip Salvador, American-Mexican commercial model Garrett Zebley, La Union businesswoman Catherine Franco and your blogger – gave their one end nod to the candidate who gave the best reply in the end. And Halimatu Yushawu brought home the win.The long but entertaining programme was hosted by well-loved showbiz sweethearts Tom Rodriguez and Carla Abellana, with performances coming from singers Gerald Santos and Darren Ong, stand-up comic and belter Donita Nose, plus the crowd-drawing loveteam of teen idols James Reid and Nadine Lustre.
Allow me to thank Tita Kitchie Benedicto-Paulino, Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer and his wife La Carlota Mayor Juliet Ferrer, Tita Marie Gozun and the Headwriting team Jojo Nones & Ryan Benitez for the opportunity to sit as one of the judges and also for the warm hospitality of the people of La Carlota and the personnel at Planta Hotel and Residences. :-)
