It was by pure coincidence that Bb. Pilipinas 1987 had two Official Candidates who answered to nicknames that are almost similarly spelled except for the switch of the two vowels – sometimes to the slight confusion of people around them.
The same ladies eventually won. Maria Lourdes “Luli” Enriquez was crowned Bb. Pilipinas International 1987, while Maria Luisa “Lilu” Jimenez won Miss Maja Pilipinas 1987.

Between the two, Lilu Jimenez performed better in her pageant assignment. She went to Mérida, Mexico for Miss Maja International 1987 and made Top 10. And not one to be tied down by beauty queen duties after her BPCI contract expired, she went on with life, migrated to the U.S. where she met and married her husband Tim Andrews. She is now the mother of three beautiful kids and works as an Education Coordinator at Frenesius Medical Care.
As for Luli Enriquez, there is very little to be searched about her current whereabouts online. I tried and tried but to no avail, sadly. I do hope she is living a beautiful life right now and happily settled down with her husband and children.
Okay, dear readers, I have decided to reserve my Senti Sunday Specials for all former Filipina beauty queens*. If you happen to be in the know about the present state of one and want her to be featured here, I’d gladly oblige. You may email norman.blogsite@gmail.com for a recent photo or two plus bits of info about her latest. :-)
* – limited at the moment to those who won titles in Bb. Pilipinas, Mutya ng Pilipinas, Miss R.P. and lesser-known competitions where the winner may be of special interest to readers (e.g. Dina Bonnevie in Miss Magnolia, Joey Albert in Dream Girl Filipina and Charo Santos in Baron Travel Girl)
