This was how Mr. World Philippines 2015 Sam Ajdani looked like during the TRESemme Runway Ready Backstage Fashion Show
Our gorgeous hunk is back to his usual fighting form in the photo below when he did a photoshoot for an issue of Forbes Magazine. :-)
Watch and listen to the preparations she is lining up for Miss Universe 2015 plus an assortment of other topics related to the same, like her relationship with predecessor MJ Lastimosa and the kind of tips she is receiving for the big one.

You will be personally contacted by a member of the Miss Republic of the Philippines pre-qualification committee (headed by National Director Edu Pillora) if you have passed the initial screening, whereby instructions will be given on what to do next.
We shall be waiting for your submissions, beautiful and brainy ladies of NCR! :-D

The ladies from (clockwise from top left) Guinobatan, Albay, Badian,Cebu, Lipa City and Lapu-Lapu City could be four of the spoilers in MPE2015 (Photo credit: Collin Yap and Fabmanilaph)
Now that we already know the running favorites who continue to shine among the forty-one hopefuls, how about checking out the less hyped beauties who may just spring a surprise or two on Finals Night? I am now introducing you to five (5).
There is Jian Cayla Salazar from Guinobatan, Albay who possesses such a refreshing look and presence. And what about Aiko Rachelle Caraan from Badian, Cebu? This lady with the fab cheekbones can project her arresting smile and charming ways if given the equal exposure. You can also add Paris Adele Silva to the mix. She has this way of churning out her winsome qualities to the objective spectator.
Meanwhile, Shanette Delalamon from Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu possesses oriental doll-like features that can corner your eyes once she makes a move. And just to complete the quintet, let’s throw in Alyssa Ashley Calimlim of Villasis, Pangasinan. This lass is easy on the eyes and with a countenance that is both pleasant and attention-worthy.
Now I wouldn’t be surprised to see one or two of them take the place of a couple of the favored ones. While the top crown is already being strongly zeroed in by a few of the front-runners, the elemental court is still open for shuffling. And if they bring about their A-frame during the Preliminaries, count a spoiler to sneak in when everyone else is looking at the other direction. ;-)Pinay Beauty Queen Academy Season 2 will have its kick-off regional/provincial screening come May 17. Interestingly, the event will take place alongside the Fertility Festival of Obando, Bulacan. But I’m not reading much into the coincidence because there is just no relation at all. If at any, the atmosphere should be entirely festive.
Host Ali Forbes will be there with the four (4) new mentors – Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago, Miss Universe 2012 3rd Runner-Up Smacey Supsup-Lee, Miss Earth 2004 Priscilla Meirelles and Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2000 Nina Ricci Alagao.
Watch out for the show’s premiere episode on June 21 to be aired over GMA News TV, and every Saturday & Sunday thereafter. ;-)
At Valkyrie’s Palace Pool Club in BGC last Friday, Jonas Gaffud was the most gracious host as he welcomed his guests and made sure that every single one of them is having a good time. The list of attendees is long, but part of it includes Bb. Pilipinas beauties Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Christi Lynn McGarry, Ann Colis, Kim Suiza and Cindy Miranda. The models are in full force with the likes of Sam Ajdani, Kurt Viray, Richard Juan, Vince Ferraren, AJ Winkler, Brodie Nero, Tohi Ajdani, Cassandra Naidas, Alaiza Malinao, Jasmine Maierhofer present.
Of course, the members of the working team behind Mercator are accounted for. The mood was all-out partying with a big splash. And nobody went home without getting a little or totally wet. :-)

But Maureen’s romance with the Pinoys did not end there. She was signed up to do two (2) local movies afterwards. The first was a comedy with popular cager Francis Arnaiz and the late Chiquito titled “Miss Aruba Went to Town”, followed by a drama “Sa Pagitan ng Dalawang Langit” (In Between Two Heavens) with Dante Rivero.
Let’s extend the throwback. Here now is a clip from Miss Universe 1974.
4:36 into the video below, watch Maureen’s semifinal interview with host Bob Barker.

Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 Christi Lynn McGarry spent time with relatives in Nabua, Camarines Sur
How about you, dear readers? Have you prepared anything extra special for your mothers today? I hope you did. She deserves it 100%! ;-)

Miss Universe Philippines 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Bb. Pilipinas International 2015 Janicel Lubina, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 Christi Lynn McGarry and Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2015 Rogelie Catacutan were at the forefront of the class.
And you know what’s even way cooler for Pia? Her mother, Che, even gamely joined in and made sure that she was able to keep up with the fast steps.
All in a good morning of fitness for the moms and our Queens!
All images in this post were taken by my amiga of a photographer (and also a mother herself) Joy Arguil. :-)Jonas Gaffud of Aces & Queens shared this teaser of a pic showing the early training of its girls for 2016.
For some, it will commence with painstaking baby steps. The rest should already be in the toddler stages of learning. And one or two might already be approaching pre-pubescent phases of shaping up. All of them will be on equal footing for now, regardless.
I will keep you updated on this. But for now, their identities will be shrouded in secrecy first. Nothing like keeping everyone in suspense more than half a year ahead of the 2016 battle (or perhaps, Miss World Philippines 2015 for one or a few). ;-)
The said event will serve as a prelude to the national finals to be staged at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre of Resorts World Manila on May 21.
I shall feature the 2015 candidates in a separate post so that you can get a better picture of the ladies and see who among them deserve to shine and possibly represent us in an international bikini competition abroad. ;-)

While some people would automatically assume that 24 year-old Michael is Fil-Aussie, he is not. Standing 1.75m, he is proudly Fil-Greek (Greek dad, Filipino mom) born and raised in Melbourne. He plays competitive basketball especially when he moved to Chicago (Illinois) and Santa Maria (California). Back in 2013, he actually appeared in a local teleserye titled “The Good Daughter” (which starred Kylie Padilla) on GMA-7, starred in a commercial and made TV guestings on noontime shows like “Eat Bulaga” and “It’s Showtime”.
So inspite of bannering Australia in the male pageant, Michael has really been in touch with his Filipino roots.

Sophida was crowned by outgoing titleholder Nissa Katerahong who was a runner-up to Isabella Santiago of Venezuela during the international finals last year.
FYI, Miss Tiffany’s Universe 2015 won 120,000.00 Thai baht, a brand-new car and other prizes amounting to more than 1 million baht.

But since it’s summer and she’s on break, Laura agreed to a well-deserved break in Boracay which coincided with the #SmartSummer event of the telecoms company. It was a fun working vacation where she did hosting duties – something she does so well. It was like a fish-in-the-water engagement for her.
The more important concern, though, is if we shall see the pageant comeback of Laura sooner or later. I would be the first to express joy should the wish finally happen – be it within the 3rd Quarter or next year’s 1st Quarter.Where do you want Laura to take part in, dear readers? ;-)
P.S. All photos are courtesy of Laura’s Instagram account.
Right at the onset, I felt that getting a 3rd Runner-Up spot won’t be a fiery (no pun intended) conclusion for Bianca. And that it was just a matter of time before she would give up on the responsibilities instead of getting tied down by the same.
In a way, I feel bad for Bianca. She gave her everything in all the national pageants she joined, only to end up getting bridesmaid status everytime. She could have already nailed a crown by now. Alas, it was not meant to be. She must have really moved on to greener (again, no pun intended) pastures where pageantry is not the main focus.
I can only wish her the best of luck in the other endeavors she is setting her sights on. :-)
My hunch is that after serving those endorsement ties, Ja will propel herself back to the pageant world and perhaps, resume the unfinished business of winning a national crown.
So is the buzz true that she could be joining the queue for Bb. Pilipinas next year? Methinks the prospects are bright for a return. ;-)

Take for example the twenty-nine (29) candidates of Slimmers World Miss Bikini Philippines 2015 who were presented to the media during a well-attended Press Presentation at the Diamond Hotel yesterday noon. While I wouldn’t exactly state that this is their best bumper crop of contenders, there are still more than a handful of easy standouts who can cruise to possible victory come May 21 finals at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila.
The 2015 comers (and their assigned numbers) are: 1) Ariz Encarnacion, 2) Beah Ocampo, 3) Jessah Eclevia, 4) Jhai Cariaga, 5) Julie Basnillo, 6) Zairah Agsaluna, 7) Tim Alsowyed, 8) Marlyn dela Merced, 9) Ayen Mangaring, 10) Divine Canaceli, 11) Nicole Dichoso, 12) Pau Napuli, 13) France Constantino, 14) Kim Alcantara, 15) MJ Lucero, 16) Rayne Tipones, 17) Lyn Agriam, 18) Ina Alcantara, 19) Maricar Sicuana, 20) Karla Alas, 21) Jonna Bravante, 22) Angelu Gonzales, 23) Honey Bravante, 24) Crystal Padilla, 25) Maggie Hizon, 26) Gale Canillo, 27) Ace Morales, 28) Juvi Balili and 29) Angela Yagaya.
Here are the photo grids of the ladies courtesy of Joy Arguil.
Here are my ten (10) early favorites among the twenty-nine (29) eye candies:

The candidates of Miss Gay Manila 2015 get their make-up training from Jonas Gaffud who took and shared the photo above
At the moment, training sessions are the call of the day as the candidates literally underwent a make-up class under Jonas Gaffud. There is no room for swell-headed contenders here, since even the most learned among them should go through the whole process and, perhaps, unlearn some tricks of the trade which may no longer be the best methods in applying skin-deep facial enhancements.
The superficial part of applying make-up properly is just a small portion of the whole thing. More is expected of the joiners. If female beauty contests expect their ladies to be beautiful and brainy, so is Miss Gay Manila 2015. And if good talent can be thrown in for good measure, then so much the better.
If you’re interested in buying tickets for the May 20 finals at the PICC Plenary Hall next week, try the numbers below for starters. ;-)
